Inspired by our current exhibition, Let’s Talk About the Weather, this hands-on workshop will teach you and your child how to build green walls from everyday materials, which can be used to grow your own edible plants, vegetables, and flowers at home. Monika will teach you how to transform Styrofoam boards and vegetable crates to begin a small stacked garden creation for your balcony or backyard. Together, you will plant vegetables and herbs including basil, coriander, rocca, green zaatar, cherry tomato, sweet pepper, oregano, and more. You will also be able to take your plants home after the workshop!
Monika Fabian is an instructor at the Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management at the American University of Beirut. Her work seeks to promote the use of native and Mediterranean plant species in green roofs and vertical walls.
