Can you capture the essence of a city on film? From the documentary to the experimental, the three films in this screening weave together narratives and images of past, present, and future Beirut, constructing small, subjective vignettes onto the city.
– Memories of Ras Beirut: Wish You Were Here (50’), Mahmoud Hojeij, 2005
– The Other Orange (20’), Hassan Choubassi, 2005
– Red Is The Color of My Eye (Ein A’l Hamra) (23'), Nesrine Khodr, 2000
This screening is part of a series bringing together recent and previous work by artists and filmmakers on Beirut. Curated by Roy Dib and organized around four themes, the films in the program weave a complex and contradictory image of urban life in Beirut.
